Another and different night at the pub

We go to the pub on Sunday nights, and we go earlier than usual, at about 9:45 – 10:00. The reason we go then is because our friends, the two Ts go there, Trevor and Tim. We have known them for many years and always enjoy their company. In fact, for a while we used to have a celebratory Christmas meal together, because Trevor, Tim, and my husband, and another friend Terry, all have birthdays within five days of each other. We used to have a celebratory meal for  them, and we would each invite our friends to come,so it was always a great night for all, in the Dolphin, our pub.

Anyway, tonight we arrived about 9:45, and the three T’s were sitting together, and we joined them, along with two fine pints of Otter beer. The thing is with pubs, you never know where the conversation will lead; so tonight:

  • cruises some of us have been on
  • Sunday lunch at the Dolphin
  • the café in the boatyard
  • the bloke who had the lawn mower shop and the bloke who had the donkeys on the beach
  • quiz night at the Dolphin
  • family and friends
  • being seasick and how ghastly it is
  • bowls
  • Istanbul
  • someone who knocked a plate off the wall in the pub having drunk a few too many glasses of wine
  • the friend who has a pub in his garage
  • Dubrovnik
  • prisons, English prisons
  • Handsworth
  • TV series including ’24’ ‘The Killing’ ‘Unforgotten’ ‘Northern Exposure’
  • … and much, much more!

The delightful thing is with going to the pub, you just never can tell where the conversation is going to lead… oh and my list doesn’t include the conversation I had with Kane behind the bar about Marmite cashews!
