Well the mid point of the month has passed,we are halfway through November, halfway through the National Novel Writing Month. In case you’ve missed it, this is an on-line challenge to write 50,000 words of a new novel during the month of November. There is no prize except the satisfaction of having completed the task. You may wonder… why??? Well, as a friend who I introduced to NaNo said, it’s liberating – you don’t have time to stop and ponder about which the best adjective to use, whether a description is precise enough, vivid enough, whether the conversation is realistic enough, you just have to get on with it and write! Write, write, write! This may seem as if you’re just churning out the words, but actually it isn’t like that at all. The writing maybe forced (although sometimes it flows like wine pouring from a bottle) but the narrative is galloping on, and once it’s December 1st, then you have the luxury of looking at and working on the great chunk of novel you have completed.
I struggled for the first week or so, dithering over what to write, and actually starting several different stories; however, I’ve now got into my groove, and halfway through the month and I’m halfway through the challenge – 26,000+ words written! What is more, I am blogging about 1,000 words a day, plus continuing with the nearly completed story I was already writing… so I’m certainly getting in the word count!
I didn’t think I would manage this November, but I am more confident that I will… so, back to NaNo!

I’m sort of also trying for this… 😀 Except I’m writing on my thesis. So far… 1000 words in November! I seem to be deleting more than what I am adding at the moment …
