Going round the shops in the weeks leading up to Christmas, your ears are assaulted by endless repetitions of the same dire songs and music… Things which were old and ghastly when I was a child are still being played, as well as the dreary droning easy-listening versions of so called ‘classic’ seasonal melodies.
