And now I’m talking to the pictures on the wall…

I haven’t exactly come to a stop, I have been sorting out my next  novel – complete but very complicated, very long and needs  a herculean amount of work to be done before I can even think about a date to publish it… some time late spring I think… at the earliest! So I am doing work… but not any actual writing.

I have a new novel but seem to have run aground a bit… hence my title about talking to the pictures… I have a calendar with a photo, and I talked to the photo about me being stuck… This is of course, a joke, really, but it’s just one more thing I do rather than gritting my teeth and getting on with actually writing. I guess it’s a displacement activity of sorts…

However, I do know from experience that when I’ve had a muddledy few weeks, it’s as if ideas are brewing, and suddenly I’ll find my self writing away, the words pouring out, the ideas tumbling one after the other, storylines going in all sorts of different directions, new characters arriving, unexpected things happening… it’s as if while I’m just messing about, faffing around, there’s a sort of gestation period and then suddenly everything comes together and I get writing again.

Oh well, back to the faffing… It’s diet day today so I can’t even have a glass of wine!
