Mott the Hoople… what a name! wWhat a typically 70’s name! They actually were a band who had been together since 1969, but in 1976, the decided to change their name to Mott the Hoople which was the title of a book by Willard Manus. Mott was the main character, Norman Mott, but I can’t quite work out what a hoople is… maybe I need to read the novel which was written in 1966, described as ‘the underground classic comic novel’. The band lasted until 1980, although it seems there were ‘artistic differences’!
