a couple of updates

I’ve been rather dilatory about writing here, but life at home has been unbelievably busy and chaotic, and to be honest my head and the thoughts within it have been in a spin. I’m hoping things will settle down somewhat even though it’s the Christmas season. I’m about to put on party clothes (exaggerating slightly, black trousers and a sparkly t-shirt) and go out for the first of several Christmas meals with various groups, so I’m sharing only a couple of updates, but I promise I will write properly tomorrow.

First update, stories and other pieces for my writing group’s next anthology are being sent to the collator, and we have an interesting selection of topics we’ve written about over 2024:

  • Cheese
  • Leap
  • Trial
  • Re-writing a well-known story or tale
  • A character
  • Writing inspired by the group trip to Apex Park in Burnham-on-Sea – we spent the day there writing en plein air
  • A new or different ending to a well-known story or tale
  • What I did in my holiday
  • Whatever happened to Mike
  • Taking the biscuit

I will share more details once published, and give the as yet undecided title of anthology vi which will be available on Amazon.

Second update – overheard in Homebase, the “home improvement and garden retailer” now unfortunately in administration where we were yesterday looking for bargains:

  • “Oh Tim, Don’t be a martyr!”
    Tim: “Someone has to.”
  • “Well, that’s just the way it is, Emma Jane, with you and me.”
  • “Rope on sale! Even murderers’s have budgets – and tarpaulin’s reduced too!”
