Hostas… or funkia?
I really do not like hostas, really…. but wait… these are rather lovely…. maybe I should think again! There are over 25 species of them, maybe I have only met the 24 varieties I did not like! I think I like them a little more now I have learnt they used to be called funkia.

These little brass squares set into the granite slabs show the old pre-metric measurements, feet, poles and links, alongside the continental metres. Bring them back, I say, rods poles and perches, links, chains and leagues! Bring them back!
