Ain’t mushroom inside!

Does anyone remember Lonnie Donegan, ‘My Old Man’s A Dustman’? My sister an I used to think it was so funny when we were small children… all the dreadful puns which we thought were so hilarious! Whenever I hear the word ‘mushroom’ I always remember “… there ain’t mushroom inside!”

Where have all the comic songs of yesteryear gone?

As a child I remember so many comic songs being played on the radio…or wireless as we called it then. I’m sure they were mostly of little real merit and probably not very comical but we loved them.
