Strawberries and ducks

We had been strawberry picking near Bath in Somerset and the car was full of the smell of sweet ripe fruit. As we came up to the Chew Valley Lake we espied an ice-cream van parked… and could not resist! My favourite is an oyster, a pair of shell shaped wafers lined with mallow and then filled with ice-cream. Sadly the ice-cream man was out of oysters.

“Not the season?” I quipped but he just told me there had been none at the wholesalers.

We stood and watched the water fowl enjoying the sun on Herriots Mill Pool.

Quack!
Quack?
Ducks, drakes and geese are joined by seagulls and jackdaws, including this one-legged fellow
Jackdaws are such intelligent, clever creaturers
Who you looking at?
