We had been strawberry picking near Bath in Somerset and the car was full of the smell of sweet ripe fruit. As we came up to the Chew Valley Lake we espied an ice-cream van parked… and could not resist! My favourite is an oyster, a pair of shell shaped wafers lined with mallow and then filled with ice-cream. Sadly the ice-cream man was out of oysters.
“Not the season?” I quipped but he just told me there had been none at the wholesalers.
We stood and watched the water fowl enjoying the sun on Herriots Mill Pool.

beautiful pics as always Lois!
There’s only thing tastier in the summer than pick-your-own strawberries, and that’s pick-form-your-own-garden strawberries.

I chuck the slugs from my allotment on the next plot where there are chickens, and let them sort it out amongst themselves….
