Where have all the years gone?

It’s always great fun to go out with our children, it’s only when I start looking through old pictures that I just wonder… where on earth has the time gone?

I can see that from your picture, a dashing and handsome young man! At my reunion some people looked about 90, some hadn’t changed at all, some who had seem so dominant and over-bearing had shrivelled, and some shrinking violets had blossomed! I obviously looked 18!

Your children are truly beautiful – I adore the photo of your son with his hat on – it made my heart sing – it brought back memories of my son, at about the same age as that photo, wearing a hat like that around France whilst on holiday. At the time Harry Potter was huge everywhere and Will was often mistaken for him. We were walking around a town (Will in the hat) and a coach drove up full of French school girls. Suddenly the windows were opened and we had shrieking voices at us “‘Arry! ‘Arry! – Oh look look it’s ‘Arry!” Great post.

I bet they had some laughs at that. I don’t know where the years have gone either. It really hit me as I was coming up to fifty – in fact it made me quite depressed for a while because I simply could not fathom where the time had gone. I’m over it now but it was like having my face slapped with a cold fish for a time.

I think I’m ten years ahead of you, and it was a great shock too! I have never minded getting older until it was the great six zero… now I’m used to it, but I can’t say I like it very much!!

I know exactly what you mean about it being a shock, only mine came 10 years earlier. I can’t believe you’re sixty, I thought you were round about my age. It must be your zest for life, which I have to say, I love.
