I posted recently about my friend Andrew’s exhibition; he wrote the text and his associate Peter Topping painted the pictures for an on-street display about the small Manchester town of Chorlton-cum-Hardy.

The company of McCarthey and Stone are developing a site in Chorlton and instead of having boring, tatty hoardings round the building site, they have erected smart green boards for Andrew’s exhibition.
The official opening of the exhibition was last Friday, 7th September and the distinguished guest cutting the green ribbon was another friend, Keith Bradley, now Baron Bradley of Withington. Luckily there was a film crew on hand who produced this excellent little documentary about the project and the opening:

Andrew has written on his own blog about the opening. I would encourage you to read more from his blog as it is not only about the history of one small town from a rural community through industrial change to the twenty-first century, but it has parallels for any community.

Andrew’s first book about Chorlton will be out in the autumn.

What an inspiring collaboration!
