I really am on the downward trail now to getting ‘Loving Judah’ uploaded and available on Amazon as an e-book.
I am doing my last minute checking, spell-checking, re-reading, imagining myself as different characters to try and iron out nay inconsistencies… I just can’t wait to get it finished!
There is a major episode near the very end of the story when one of the main characters Bavol, does something which even to me seems rather cruel and almost malicious… when I wrote the episode originally the story was really flowing and this part almost wrote itself. It is very dramatic and if ‘Judah’ was ever made into a film (I should be so lucky!) this would be a fantastic and dramatic scene… however I haven’t been able to get away from the feeling that Bavol’s motive is a little… dodgy. He offers a partial explanation on the very last page, but even so… there was a little niggle that his actions diminish him.
I was distance-editing the story – that is I was away from the computer and thinking it through in my head; I was seeing the narrative through Bavol’s eyes and suddenly I understood exactly why he behaved as he did in this scene! Not only was it totally in-character, but it made complete sense dramatically! I had his motive!
Now I must make sure that I share this with the reader, it will only need a couple of sentences of explanation from Bavol and I will feel happy that there is sense in what I have written, and consistency!

We all have our seemingly inconsistent cruelties.
