Wimpy Bar

Long before anyone had ever heard of McDonald’s there was Wimpy here in England. I don’t think I ever actually had a burger, I never liked them but I probably had a milk shake or a coffee. Wimpy Bars started in the 1950’s and seemed quite exciting and American… although they were British and started by Lyons of the Corner House fame.

I didn’t realise Wimpy still existed until my son took us to one in Salford. I was amazed at how unchanged it seemed although, of course, it was up to date in terms of menu. There were even quorn burgers available and every item of food and drink had  a calorie guide to help make healthy choices. I would happily have eaten there except I’d already had a light breakfast… that didn’t stop my boys!! I liked the waitress service, I liked the friendly staff, I enjoyed the good cup of coffee I had, and my son and husband enjoyed their Wimpy breakfasts!

Hurrah for Wimpy Bars!

I’m glad to see they still have bender in a bun on the menu!
Milk shake… and can you see the old lady’s socks… it was that sort of place
Benefits day, so Wimpy was busy with people enjoying a little treat.
Mmmm, Wimpy breakfast nice and piping hot and freshly cooked!
Tuck in!
