Ever since I was a little girl we have had a family Christmas party, and every year we have been visited by a fine old gentleman dressed in red with a heavy sack full of presents for all the good boys and girls!
The tradition was started by my aunty, Audrey and at first it was just my cousin Diana and I who were invited. as our brothers and sisters were born they came too, and then as we grew older, married and had children the size of the party increased. Now most of our children are adults, and some of them have children of their own.. the third generation of party people! We have moved away from most of my cousins, we are in Somerset, my son is in Manchester, my daughter in Ulster but yet we still travel to stay with our dear cousins and enjoy the Christmas spirit!
The little porcelain figure was given to Aunty Audrey on the 25th anniversary of the party inside the old gentleman’s leg is a scroll with all our names on… a lovely record as some of the older generation are no longer with us.
