I actually really love Marmite and could eat it by the spoonful! I love it on bread with really thick butter…

I’ve always wanted to try Marmite, or “vegemite” as the aussies call it. Alas I can never find any in the states, so I’ll have to live vicariously through you LOL! I’ve heard it’s a yeast byproduct of beer brewing, and it taste like salty beef boullion. Am I close? I love all things salty… so what does it taste like to you? Have an enjoyable snack, and definitely leave some for the old man. 😀

It isn’t as sweet as Vegemite, and I suppose it does have a beefy taste in a way, but you’re right, it is a yeast product and totally vegetarian. It has a wonderful depth of flavour… and the different speciality Marmites, Guinness, champagne and this new gold one with gold flakes in it, are all subtly different. I hope you get hold of some because it is so yummy!
