Sparkling new year!

We went out for a New Year’s Day walk  in glorious sunshine. We took our cameras even though the sun was low in the sky and clouds were beginning to bank up. The colours in my photographs are incredible – I haven’t adjusted them in any way, and  they give a good idea of what a strange light was cast. There was no wind and it was very cold, but pleasant all the same. We saw lots of dog walkers, lots of people in new hats and scarves and children on new bikes. It was extremely muddy under foot, but everyone seemed to be glad to be out and about in dry weather!

Red twigs… I don’t know what they are, elder maybe?

The wind is coming from the north, but the hill sheltered us so we didn’t catch a breeze of it
