I’ve been so fortunate today in so many ways… and I received two super books from my husband, Bari … obviously with the ulterior motive of me/us finding some lovely things to cook. We have been married for twenty-one years and the only time we come anywhere near having an argument is in the kitchen… so generally if Bari is cooking I do something else, and vice-versa.
Mary Berry is the grandma everyone would like to have; she has been a cookery writer for years and years, and yet when she writes and presents on TV she is still fresh and interesting and amusing. A wonderful person – most recently the co-star of ‘The Great British Bake-Off’ with the delicious Paul Hollywood.
Sean Wilson is best known to most people as a star of the long running soap opera, ‘Coronation Street’; however Bari has known him for years and years, and knew him before he was on TV when he was one of the rising stars of a local young people’s theatre group, the Oldham Theatre Workshop. I read the introduction to Sean’s book in bed this morning with a nice cup of tea; he is a true foodie, who just loves eating, cooking, making, talking and writing about food. He is a prize-winning cheese-maker too and a champion for the excellence of British cooking. I look forward to reading his book as well as using it to cook great northern food!

Often wanted to author a “bachelor for one” cookbook – tasty, nutritious and quick.

Go on! You can do it – and think of the illustrations! It would be a best-seller – I’d buy one for my son, he’s a good cook but is not quick!
