Cream tea at Derrick’s!

Derrick’s tea room in Cheddar is the finest tea room in the world; a wonderful variety of cream teas – traditional, Victorian, gentleman’s chocolate, cherry… and they are just what I can remember, plus high teas, breakfasts  soups, sandwiches, jackets, every sort of delicious baked item you could imagine and home-made cakes… oh and about a dozen different sorts of tea varieties.

I had a ploughman’s lunch… crispy warm bread, real ale chutney, home-made coleslaw, salad including apples and grapes, and a huge portion of Draycott Blue cheese

Yes, I know it’s lunchtime but my son had the full English breakfast, and Russian Caravan tea

… and my daughter had chicken nuggets and chips… aaah, bless! Notice the whole tea leaves in my lovely Oolong tea, Phoenix jade I think!

… teapots…

The tea room is  a few hundred yards up Cheddar Gorge, at the foot of the really steep bit. It snuggles under the Lion’s Head rock
