The Spa Lane Golf Course

When my children were little, probably about five and six years old or so, maybe a little older, they both played golf. because they were not yet able to go on the big course, and because the weather was often not nice, my husband devised a golf course in our home, our bungalow on Spa Lane, Oldham. he took great care with the planning, and then he would play with the children – I’m not sure who enjoyed it more, him or them!

Dyson hole was played towards our vacuum cleaner, garden hole was played towards the patio doors where there was a view onto the garden, Toothpaste was into the bathroom and Eggshell and Gas-stove were into the kitchen. Long whack went down the long passageway towards the bedrooms, and Telegraph was to the doormat where the telegraph would be delivered by the paper-boy.

They had such fun playing, but I think Bari had as much fun devising it, each hole had a marked distance and a par, and he made up score cards for them!
