Yesterday I went to the Post Office sorting office to collect a parcel I had to sign for. While I was waiting I noticed a donation box on the counter for Kidney Research, a charity doing what you would expect from its title. For a donation of £2 you could receive a purple wristband. Beside the collection box was a little notice.
Postie Ian had been very poorly with kidney disease and needed a transplant. The notice didn’t explain the background to it, but for whatever reason Postie Ian’s mate, Chalkie the Postman, donated a kidney. What a wonderful gift! What an amazing gift to a friend! The man behind the counter saw my interest and told me that the operation had gone well and that both men were at home recovering from the operation.
Needless to say, I put £2 in the box and got my purple wristband
