World whistling champion

We are lucky enough to be friends with the amazing David Morris, the dashing and handsome world whistling champion. You may have thought anyone could whistle, you know what Lauren Bacall said about putting your lips together and blowing?  Well most people could make a whistling noise; sometimes the sound is changed or made louder using fingers or finger and thumb, or whistling through your teeth…

In the Canary Islands and in Oaxaca, Mexico whistling was a means of communication more than just signalling; there were sounds and tones to represent words and it was used to communicate across distances,  over valleys, up and down mountains, or as a secret language. There are various superstitions about whistling, it’s unlucky to do it on a ship, women shouldn’t…

What David can do is extraordinary – you can find him on YouTube, but have a look at him here – have a listen to a virtuoso performance!
