5:2

My dear husband Bari has a fine figure, but there is just a little bit too much of it! He lost over a stone and a half last year on the Tesco’s diet, but it was such a palaver, the recipes weren’t very practical, they took no account of personal likes and dislikes (he hates green vegetables for example) and although it was good in many ways, it wasn’t easy to maintain. He hit a plateau and a few weeks went past when he didn’t lose any weight at all… now as an accustomed dieter I know all about that! It’s like running a marathon (I guess – never run one!) where you hit ‘the wall’ but you have to just keep going.

Now the weather is perking up he is having another go at shifting those few extra pounds and has decided to try the 5:2 diet – five days of normal healthy eating, and two days (not necessarily consecutive days) of fasting on 600 calories. So, after a splendid visit to Otter brewery in Devon last night, he feels ready to take up the challenge! I’m so proud of him! He is a wonderful cook, but as an experienced dieter, I’ve taken over his menu.

      I hope it’s working for you! Calorie counting is a bind I agree… especially as my husband doesn’t like low calorie salad and vegetables which can fill him up!
