I love anemones, anemones de Caen… they are flowers from my childhood and I adore the strong colour, the simple pretty face of these flowers and the dark strong centres. I went to Caen when I went t visit my pen-friend Nicole… a beautiful town in Normandy. My visit was extra poignant as my dad, Donald had been there during the war when t had been destroyed by enemy bombing but when I went there it was rebuilt and a lovely and busy town.
For some reason the corms of the anemones don’t like us, and although I buy some almost every year they very seldom favour us with flowering. I plant them in the best specially bought compost, I water them and lavish loving care upon them but they are feeble and pathetic.
So it is quite surprising when I find one has not only grown but produced pretty flowers in a crack between paving slabs and the tarmacked drive…

How pretty! I had flowers planted today, hope they fare well with all of the rain that we are getting.
