Somehow or other this came up while we were in the pub… we could remember Nigel Planer’s version (pathetic in my opinion) but just couldn’t remember who sang it originally! Traffic, of course! So here they are!
Traffic was one of those groups which had an immense impact on anyone growing up in the 60’s (yes, it’s true, that was me!) they sprung t life in the Midlands – I guess there were bands springing up all over the place following the success of British groups as they were called then… suddenly it seemed possible for British music to flourish, it wasn’t just the Americans who could bring great music alive! Traffic was composed of Steve Winwood, Jim Capaldi, Chris Wood and Dave Mason… Stevie Winwood had first come to notice in the Spencer Davis Group and after Traffic went on to a most interesting musical career. He’s still rocking now, and remembered for much, but I still really like ‘Hole in my shoe’!
