The sounds of summer 2013

Last year at around this time I published a post about the lovely sounds of summer….

2013 update… a neighbour is using a strimmer to mow his lawn, so there is s perpetual brrrrrm, brrrrrrrrrrm, bbbbbbbrrrrrrmmmmmm, with intermittent pauses; a new neighbour ha moved in with very barky dogs which ahs made the timid dog on the other side of us start barking anxiously, Dingo who lives next to the strimming neighbour barks himself hoarse, Thatch a normally quite dog who lives down the road joins in, a set of three little yappers beyond Dingo add to it, an unidentified dog near the school joins in…

Because we live between the beach and the hospital we are used to noises occasionally for both; maybe it is the very hot weather but we have had the rescue helicopter hovering over us on several occasions, in-coming medical helicopters arriving at the hospital, blues-and twos of ambulances throughout the night.

On the other side of the village is the main road from Weston to Bridgewater, so on a summer’s night we have the boy-racers, on Thursdays we have bike-night-on-the-beach motor bikes going to (late afternoon/early evening) and from (late evening/night) the Beach Lawns where they meet.

At the moment we are on the flight path into Bristol Airport… all those lucky holiday makers go to and coming back from their holidays…

Oh joy, the sounds of summer.

As we live almost next to a school the summer holidays brings a blessed relief… we did have kids who were nice and not screamy, next door but they have been replaced by the barking dogs…
