Every so often I go back in time and play Jefferson Airplane; they were such an amazing band which got together in San Francisco (where else?) in 1965. I don’t actually know much about them, but I just love the sound they make and think that Grace Slick the vocalist has one of the most amazing voices I have ever heard. She was born in 1939 and has been in several groups as well as having a solo career. Despite her voice and her success… or maybe because of it, she has struggled with alcoholism and substance abuse. However listen to the pure notes she hits and the sweeping scales she climbs, and be amazed at how very, very talented she is:
