Rye Harbour 2

It’s raining, and it’s chilly, and a week ago we were wandering around in shorts and t-shirts at Rye Harbour. Although it must have a lot of visitors, particularly in the summer months and weekends, people coming to the nature reserve, or to the yacht club, or just visiting a nice area as we were, the village still seemed to retain some villagey characteristics. People passing by greeted each other as if they lived locally, the houses and cottages looked lived in and not just rented for holidays, and there seemed plenty of village activities, including a book club! There is a caravan park near the nature reserve and I imagine that there are people who live there as well as just hiring a lovely ‘mobile home’ for a few weeks holiday!
