Pampushky

I mentioned the other day that  at our conversational English class, we often seem to choose food as a topic! There is nothing like food to bring people together and start some good conversations!  Sveta is a great cook (and a great knitter) and the other day she brought in some delicious little potato cakes called pampushky. I had never heard of them before but they were absolutely yummy… in fact I have to confess I was rather greedy with them! The time ran away with us and I didn’t get the chance to properly ask her how she made them… I will do next time we meet.

Sveta told me that pampushky are particularly good with borscht… well I don’t know how to make pampushky yet, but I can make borscht, and I just happened to have some at home!

I will! My recipe is different from Sveta’s, hers is a traditional Ukrainian dish with vegetables cut into chunks, mine is just beetroot and stock and seasoning but I guess hers is more authentic!
