Lark or owl… I wish I could be both! All my working life I got up early and ready to go to work, I liked to be there early so I could get things prepared, sort things put, chat to colleagues; even before I left for work I would try and spend a little time writing, even if it was only for half an hour as the sun came up! However, I also tended to go to bed late; in my youth I liked going out to clubs and places which were open late, to chat and to meet people, and latterly I stayed up late to work. Sometimes it was preparing materials for my students and classes the next day, but often the early hours of the morning was the only time left to squeeze in some writing. So when I was working I would have an early sat and a late night… sometimes only managing four or five hours sleep.
Once I stopped my regular work, I imagined my body-clock would wake me as it had done for the past years, nice and early so I could get up and not waste the day. I continued to find that I wasn’t ready for bed until past midnight, but to my surprise and disappointment, I no longer mange to wake up early unless I set the alarm for a particular reason. Even if I do that I sometimes sleep though it!
I’m definitely an owl, but I want to be a lark too!

I will have to check your novel out! this is my first visit to your bog, but not my last! I am an owl also–love to write at night, but my husband is a lark! What ‘cha gonna do!?LOL Helen

Thank you Helen! My husband is neither an owl or a lark… he’s like one of those cute dogs who just like to snooze all day… if you let them! Obviously he doesn’t really do that, he has lots of interests… but he does love sleep!
