I wrote the other day about the patron saint of locks, locksmiths and keys… I had found several saints who had associations with keys, many of whom seemed to have been very careless with them, losing them or even flinging them into rivers.
I was reminded of a sweet song Raul Malo sings on his ‘Sinners and Saints’ album, Saint Behind The Glass, written by David Hildalgo which has the opening lyrics of ‘Hammer and a nail’… which isn’t anything to do with keys, except when we had a locksmith come to mend our broken lock he did indeed have a hammer and a nail… well, several nails actually.
