I’ve written about fog and smog before, but England is suffering from a different sort of pollution at the moment; a combination of fine red dusty sand blown all the way from the Sahara and pollution for cars and industry has covered the east of the country in a nasty, noxious haze. It’s really bad in some places, and people have been admitted to hospital with breathing difficulties. When we woke up this morning, over here on the west coat, our car bonnet was covered in a fine red dust… and now looking out the window there is a haze settling on the town.
Being by the sea we are used to sea mists, haar, and even fog, but this yellowy blanket is something else and not very nice. It has been raining so I am surprised that the smoggy stuff has appeared, but here it is, and the Mendips which I can usually see from here have vanished. It is nothing like as bad as what was suffered in the past, when real smogs, a mixture of fog and smoke blanketed cities. Real fog is mysterious and strange, and in a weird way I quite like it… the deadened sounds, the feeling of being separate from reality… but this nasty yellow stuff is just unpleasant!

If he wasn’t already dead (He will be missed by all), I would kill that damn fool who wrote that horror story about fog!

I remember that happening in Uk once before, years ago when I still lived there…all the cars and everything actually, were covered in in a fine layer of dust from the Sahara…weird, huh?

Really weird… do other countries get the dust too,or just us at the edge of the Atlantic?

Lois, if you are of a mind, do a touch of research on the US attack on Fallujah, on that occasion radiation monitors in the UK spiked just a couple of days after that assault, it was the Depleted Uranium that countless shells and bombs were coated in that rained won on the population of that city. Weather conditions, pretty much similar to what you are experiencing now, allowed dust and sand to move across Europe carrying radioactive particles. It was of course denied and covered up, with the help of a compliant media.

From what we read about it looks like your islands are suffering, certainly did so after that awful attack on Fallujah, a sort of natural karma aided by Mother Nature
