No smoking!

In the pub tonight we remembered the old days before there was a ban on smoking in public places; in the old days pubs were all the same, they all had yellow walls and ceilings… from the nicotine! There were some places where you could not see across the room because of the number of people smoking… and in those days, I confess I was one of them. I gave up when we decided we wanted children and I have never smoked since, except once by accident… but that’s another story.

It used to be that it was perfectly acceptable to smoke anywhere you wanted, and even non-smokers would have ash-trays in case they had visitors who wanted a cigarette. In the cinema there would be a pall of fog hanging in front of the screen, and if you looked up you could see curls of it trickling up through the projected light. ON planes and trains people smoked, on buses the upstairs was supposed to be a non-smoking area but the signs which exhorted people ‘Please do not smoke’ were often ignored, and amusingly changed by naughty kids scratching out the paint to read  ‘Fleas do not smoke’.

It used to be that you went into the pub and entered a wall of smoke; now people have to go outside for a quick fag so these days as you exit the pub you hit the wall of smoke!

It sucks that you now have to hold you breath to get in and out of places because of inconsiderate smokers. dumb people are now trying to get away with using ecigs just to smoke inside. I hope they hurry up and add the ecigs to the no smoking laws!
I see to many people smoking in front of 12X8 foot high “No smoking on these premises” signs.
    What are these people illiterate!
