Only two

It was my creative writing group today; originally there were eight members, but one person moved from here to Upton-upon-Severn, which I believe is a really beautiful place. I had an email yesterday telling me that another member was really tied up with family and other things, so apologising for not being able to come this time. This morning I had a very croaky call from another person who had been coming down with something but had gone along to her singing group, sang her heart out and as a result lost her voice. She obviously wasn’t feeling very well, and apologised for not being able to come along this afternoon.

As 2:15 arrived, with everything ready, freshly baked scones waiting to be served with tea or coffee, I wondered why no-one had arrived… 2:20… I vaguely remembered another person saying they wouldn’t be able to attend this time, 2:25… a car! Hurrah! A someone! I welcome her in having begun to think I had made a mistake with the date, even though I’d had two apologies, and then another someone arrives. It’s lovely to see them both, and we sit and chat and exchange news, but by 2:35 we decide no-one else is coming. I had got something very different for today, so as there is only two members plus me I decided to save it and use it for next time.

We spent a very pleasant two hours talking about all sorts, including writing, and different aspects of writing, and then we shared things we had written. I didn’t actually read what I had prepared as it links with what we are going to do next time, but I talked about what I am writing at the moment.

I had intended to talk about what music inspires us, and was going to show this video as an illustration of what inspires me:

Wild horses couldn’t have kept me away. All that talent and knowledge and scones and coffee. Food for thought and for the belly. Pinch me I’m dreaming.
