Masterchef tonight

I don’t watch much tv, but I do love Masterchef – whatever the version, professional, amateur or as it at the moment, celebrity. We are coming into the third week of the present contest and it has been really interesting so far. It’s interesting to see people –  who are experts in their own field, whether it is sport, or journalism or presenting a TV show, of being an actor or singer… or any of the other things which gives them a ‘celebrity’ status – to see them in an unfamiliar environment, battling with nerves, trying to cook and present food well and in an interesting and delicious way. The tasks they are set are varied, whether it is skills and knowledge, mass catering,  cooking in a restaurant kitchen, or just cooking their own specialities. Some of them are more nervous than you would expect from people who must be used to being under a camera and in the spot-light, sometimes lacking confidence which is surprising when they have achieved well in other areas, and sometimes discovering a talent they didn’t really realise they had!

When I posted about celebrity Masterchef last week, I think I may have given the impression that I was sneering at the celebrities because they were unknown to me – I assure you I wasn’t! I was making comment on myself, at how I don’t watch much TV, have not much interest in fashion, don’t really watch much sport, and although I love music and it is really an important part of my life, I am rather narrow in what I listen to. So bring on the new set of celebrities, I’m so looking forward to seeing what you cook and how you cook, and finding out who you are!
