I was talking to my friend Vicki tonight who has been to the Glastonbury Festival this year. Her partner was working the event so she was free to wander around and see whichever band or performer she fancied… and she said she saw some amazing singers… she saw class acts like Brian Ferry and Dolly Parton and Dexy’s Midnight Runners – or whoever they are now, but she also saw small acts who not many people have heard of. She said the atmosphere was amazing,and she really did have an amazing time. I was talking about the Mavericks, my favourite band and she agreed with me – they would be sensational at Glasto!
If you only know the Mavericks from their popular hits and have never seen them in performance then you are missing a treat. I would love the Mavs to be in my county, in a festival on my doorstep. I would love them to reach a wider audience through the exposure they would receive… but just a tiny bit of me would wish that I could keep them as a little delightful secret!
