I really hate wasting anything, or in fact throwing anything away which is why our house is such a muddle, and our fridge and freezer are overflowing I guess! I’m always interested in finding ways to use left over food, or even parts of food you might not normally eat… so using meat bones to make stock or soup, using the tops of leeks in salads, using biscuit crumbs as toppings for desserts, stale bread for sippetts (croutons)…
I have just discovered that I do like watermelon after years of thinking I didn’t, and I posted about a delicious feta cheese and water melon salad a couple of days ago. I was very interested to find an article and recipe for using the skin of watermelons to make a pickle… really? It sounds so strange, but it sounds so interesting! I’m not sure I will actually try it, I don’t think anyone but me would eat it and there are an awful lot of processes to go through… nit that I mind that but our kitchen is in chaos at the moment…
Have a look at the recipe, and enjoy the great pictures, and maybe explore other posts on this blog – it’s fascinating!
