It struck me as amusing that there was a sign next to this boarded up building saying ‘Funland’; in fact it was a sign for the building beside it.
In fact this elegant building used to be the National Irish Bank. It is situated on O’Connell street in Dublin and was designed by the Scottish architect David Bryce and finished in 1863. It has a beautiful pediment depicting the Ten Virgins, which was made by the sculptor Sir John Steell who was a renowned nineteenth century sculptor and another Scot. It has six fluted Corinthian columns holding up the pediment and is a wonderful building which was closed about four years ago. it apparently was recently put on the market for €1 million!! Any takers?

If I could, I would, it is a tremendous shame for a building like this to fall into disrepair.
