This is yet another blight on the face of what could be a really lovely seaside town. This demolition site has been like this for over eighteen months…. apparently a fabulous new complex with ‘retail opportunities’, ‘leisure facilities’ and restaurants and bars was supposed to have been completed at the end of 2014… wait a minute, it nearly is the end of 2014! I took this photo this morning – they’ll have to hurry to finish it in two months! The developers bought the site in 2010, demolishing the previous shopping centre, Dolphin Square, which was built in 1965… it is just another farce surrounding the development of Weston-super-Mare… an elegant old pier is rotting away despite it being ‘listed’ an open air lido just sits like a nasty blot on the seafront, empty and vandalised… I despair!
