Something about socks

IMG_20141226_121915[1]I love socks, especially stripy ones… these ones aren’t stripy but they are two of a dozen odd socks my daughter gave me for Christmas They are amazing I love them! There are no pairs so every time you put them on you have different feet!

The origin of the word comes maybe from Ancient Greek for a sort of shoe, or maybe from a more ancient language from the area we now call Turkey, or maybe it was from Scandinavian languages… all meaning something you wear on your foot.

A similar sounding word appears in many languages, but there are all sorts of other words too! (I particularly like ŝtrumpeto!)
