A list has been compiled from a survey of 1600 people, of the ten most annoying TV adverts. I’m sure there are many more, and everyone has their own personal list. On the published list there were some I agreed with, and some I totally disagree with, and some that I disliked for a different reason, nothing to do with annoyance.
Here is the list in reverse order:
10. Hive – Active Heating (2014) – I don’t actually remember this so it obviously didn’t annoy me very much!
9. Boots – Here Come the Girls (2007) – I don’t mind this one, it’s a bit silly, but it didn’t annoy me
8. WeBuyAnyCar – Hard House Theme (2009) – I vaguely remember it, and it didn’t annoy me at all
7. Hotels4u – Anything for You Cupcake (2013) – another silly one, but hardly annoying… unless of course you come from the area which has the accent this man has, and even then, since Craig Painting the actor actually comes from Birmingham he should know the accent!
6. Halifax – ISA ISA Baby (2010) – silly again, light-hearted really
5. Comparethemarket.com – Compare the Meerkat (2009) – at first the meerkats were amusing, but eventually they got boring, and now, yes, they are annoying
4. Gladstone Brookes – PPI Compensation (2014) – I loathe all these ads, especially since the object is for the company to make money; many people found it patronising, and in the end it was withdrawn because some of its claims just weren’t true
3. Cillit Bang – Barry Scott (2007) – I love Barry Scott! He’s so awful he’s funny! I was actually disappointed that he isn’t really called Barry Scott but he is an actor called Neil Burgess… I guess that says something about how gullible I am!
2. Wonga – Puppets (2012) – disgraceful, absolute disgraceful advert, and quite rightly castigated; it’s not even a good advert but horrible – beyond annoying just dreadful!
1. Go Compare – “Go Compaaaaaare, Go Compaaaaaare!” (2009) – I am shocked and horrified that this advert featuring Gio Compario is deemed to be annoying; I adore Gio and would rush to the TV if I heard the music for it. Gio is actually talented tenor and now radio presenter Wynn Evans.
