As usual we had great fun at the quiz, we didn’t win, but we didn’t mind! As usual we were sure of some answers, guessed at others, and were frustrated at those answers which we knew but couldn’t remember.
One question was about the film starring Dennis Weaver about a truck pursuing a man in a car. We could remember it so clearly; we could remember scenes from it vividly. What we didn’t remember or maybe didn’t know was that it was directed by Stephen Spielberg. We mis-remembered that in fact the driver of the car survives he encounter, we had thought he died in the final scenes.
Another question we thought we had got right was “Which 1980’s song has the chorus ‘remember’ repeated six times. We stormed straight in with the outlandish answer ‘Remember You’re A Womble’ and we sat smugly with our answer there on the answer sheet.
The answers were read out and although we had enjoyed ourselves, we didn’t win, although we did get quite close. We have several answer sheets so if we are guessing an answer we can put alternatives down. We didn’t win, but we didn’t mind; we’d had a great time in good company.
Oh, and the Dennis Weave film was ‘Duel’ and the song with the remember chorus was ‘Fame’ (‘Remember you’re a Womble’ had eight repeats!)
