Do I believe in ghosts?

No, I don’t believe in ghosts… but I once experienced a very strange thing…

I shared a house with two friends in south Manchester. We had the bottom floor flat, two bedrooms, a sitting/dining room, a kitchen and a bathroom. The kitchen was down a short passage off the main room. This was a long time ago when my friends were training to be teachers, and I was working for a couple of years before going back to college. It was a very primitive flat, with none of the modern conveniences – or necessities as we would see them now. No central heating – so there was only a gas fire in the main room which was charged by a meter, and no heating at all in any of the other rooms… going to bed was a chilly business!

The kitchen was in an extension off the main part of the house and I think it had originally been an outside coal shed and toilet. The house had been “modernised” so it did have indoor facilities, but the kitchen now protruded from the main part; it had no heating and the walls were single brick thickness, as originally it had just been what amounted to an outhouse. The short passage to the kitchen was paved with stone flags, the kitchen, down a step, had a wooden floor – the sitting room was at least carpeted ( a very old and threadbare and filthy carpet despite our best efforts to keep it clean)

Because the kitchen was so cold we took it in turns to make tea or coffee… it was my turn and I shivered my way down the little passage and into the kitchen, filled the kettle and put it on the hob (no electric kettles for us in those days) I heard footsteps on the stone flags in the passage and then someone stepped down onto the wooden floor of the kitchen. I turned to give the drinks to my friend to carry through… and there was no-one there. I went back into the main room; one of my friends was bent over his work, concentrating on an essay he had to complete for the next day, the other was not in the room but had gone to the bathroom.

There was no time for anyone to get back from the kitchen to the main room  from me hearing feet on the wooden floor and then turning with cups in hand so it couldn’t have been either of my friends…

I have no explanation for this.

I was visited by what I know now to be a succubus when I was in my twenties. I had a vague memory of the event but it was noticed that my back was full of blood and what looked like scratch or claw marks by my friends at work. They thought that I had wild sex the night before but that sadly wasn’t the case. Maybe ghosts are evil spirits.

I’ve had a couple of weird things… I once had ‘something’ sit on the end of my bed when I was sat up reading… the mattress dipped and springs creaked and everything! I just very slowly turned of the light, pulled the duvet over my head and waited fro ‘it’ to go away… I think eventually I just feel asleep as I don’t remember it leaving!
The other thing was when my sister picked me up from a boyfriend’s house, when I got in the car she asked why his mum was standing in the doorway with us, and had been thinking “Just let them have a kiss goodbye!” (lol). As far as I knew no one else was in, so I asked what the woman looked like – she said Blonde with glasses – well his mum had short dark hair, no glasses! His family always joked they had a ghost as their dog would get up to greet an invisible person at the door sometimes, and trot up the stairs looking up at ‘someone’ wagging his tail! My sister refused to talk any more about it, eeek! 🙂

Good grief! That is alarming! Thankfully I had no creepy spooky feelings or sensations at the time… just puzzled… it was only later when i thought about it, I too thought ‘eeek!’
