Carrying on the theme of the annual family Christmas party, given by my aunty, I’ll share a recipe which became a regular feature on the party table. My aunty used to go to cookery evening classes and then make some delicious desserts for us – she was never as keen on savoury dishes!
Aunty Audrey’s chocolate Turinois
- 8 oz butter
- 4 oz sifted icing sugar
- 8 oz plain chocolate, melted over hot water
- 2 tbsp Camp coffee – I used good instant coffee diluted with a little hot water, about 3 tablespoons of coffee
- 2+ tbsp brandy or rum
- 1 can chestnut purée
- cream butter and icing sugar until pale and fluffy
- stir in the purée, mixing well and add the brandy or rum and coffee
- mix in the melted chocolate
- pour into a 1 lb loaf tin lined with cling film and put in the fridge to set
- decorate as you wish!
I made this recipe last week to take with us… it is at present sitting in our fridge where I left it on Friday…
