Casting off in the kitchen

So I’ve made a start on my year of getting rid of things; I’m trying to overcome sentimentality about possessions… and so far, a favourite dress which I’ll never wear again, a cowboy hat ditto, some books once belonging to my uncle which I have no interest in and today I looked at things in the kitchen.

My daughter gave me a set of kitchen bowls for Christmas including, measuring cups, a sieve and a colander which all stack neatly inside each other (I have a bit of a thing about stacking…) and as I thanked her, really delighted at the gift, she said that now I could throw other stuff away as this lovely set would take up less room… I remembered this as I embarked on my casting off… so I am going to lose a metal colander, a jug which is too big to be useful (not even for flowers, I have vases for them) a measuring jug ( I have several others) and some bowls… as I pack them up, I might find some other things I can do without too! I have a feeling that if I look through the kitchen drawers there maybe other things which haven’t been used for quite a while…

Been there, done that.We used to have an old family hardware store in our town where you could always find what you needed regardless of how old or obscure it was. Now it’s closed up I never get rid of anything. Also never get rid of instruction manuals for appliances Etc.
