With the sad news that Yellow Pages is no longer to be published, there is another loss – the Yellow Pages TV adverts! The punch line is always ‘good old Yellow Pages’ – however, in previous ads before this campaign was launched, the slogan in the 1970’s was ‘let your fingers do the walking’ and the instantly recognisable logo was created of two fingers ‘walking across an open book. It was designed in 1962 by Henry Alexander.
Here are a few more of the classic ads:

I advertised my business in the yellow pages years ago and it was very expensive for even a small ad. Our town had a small free paper called Shoppers News which was widely read and a lot of people shifted over to it to place ads.. Now it’s the internet. Our paper mill shut down a few years ago due to the lack of demand for newsprint and put thousands out of work. So much for progress.

Maybe it’s the type of paper – there still seems to be reams and reams produced for admin in businesses and education!
