Win, win, win… quiz night

I don’t know if the questions were easier, or if we were more brilliant, or whether having an extra intelligent bod in our team, whatever – we won two rounds and a line (the answers are on a sheet set out like a bingo card so if you get a straight line in any direction, you also get a prize!)

Last week we found it difficult to be in our normal seats, lots of other people in the pub – good for the pub, obviously, but we had to decamp to the bar we call the cross benches which goes between the other two bars.

Tonight we were slightly displaced from our normal seats – we didn’t ind, but Tim and his team were in their corner, Taz and his team were at the bar, Nigel and his team were at the bar in the cross benches, and Ewan, one of the bar staff was with his team, also in the cross benches. In the bar at the end where the juke box and dart board are were other folk – I couldn’t see them but I’m sure they were all regulars.

I was there with my two children (husband drumming in his band) our friends who have the ice-cream parlour were with us, and so was our actor friend. We had a pleasant half hour or so of chat, then down to business with round one. We actually got quite good scores, and won! There’s an intermission for answers and drinks and chat, and then round two, and my drummer husband arrived.

At the end there is always a random question – the beer question, who ever gets it right has a round of free drinks next week. The question was, when was the first sliced bread sold in the USA? I was way out with my guess of the 1870’s, the team answer of the 1900’s was fr off too; the actual answer was some year in the 1930’s… 1937 mayhap?

As usual we had a great time with our chums, and we’re looking forward to another round, next week!

MY featured image, by the way is of dolphins – our pub is the Dolphin…
