Linoleum floors, paraffin heaters, wooden clothes-horses and steamed puddings

On the shared blog I have with some writer friends at the end of every month I review what we’ve been up to, on the blog and elsewhere, what we’re busy with at the moment, future plans and, because it’s a sharing blog for other people to contribute to, news of things like courses, competitions and writing events.

Just looking at my own blog in a similar way, I see that although I have more followers (thank you every one!!) my viewing figures have taken a bit of a plunge. I have no idea why… maybe it’s the summer and people are busier doing other things than reading blogs!

Here are the numbers of views and then visitors so far this year. I had a brilliant peak in March as you see and now, for no reason I can think of, the lowest figures this year last month!

  • July 2566/1357
  • June 2711/1358
  • May 3042/1491
  • April 3638/1690
  • March 5682/2566
  • February 3920/2181
  • January 3212/2090

It’s marvellous to have contact with people from all across the world; in my boom month of March, I had visitors from 49 different countries, last month it was 18! Why the slump? Am I becoming boring?

There’s absolutely no way of me knowing why lots of people engage with my writing, or why not so many do. I shall keep writing, because it’s what I love, and I shall continue to appreciate and be thankful for everyone who reads what I write!

Now, back to work… back to the 1950’s and linoleum floors and paraffin heaters, wooden clothes-horses and steamed puddings!!

That’s a very good point! We’re having such a wonderful summer here I guess most people are out and about – but in other places the weather is infernally hot so maybe people don’t feel like doing anything very much at all. And as you say things like monsoons…

How is your weather now? I’ve seen no news of any more fires. Hope all is well with you!!
