When I wrote the short piece below last night, I hadn’t heard that Marty Balin had died on September 27th , he was seventy-six and a founder member of Jefferson Airplain.
We popped down to the pub for a late drink – last orders is 10:50 and we headed down about 10:20, just for a glass or two. It was quite busy as a Friday night, three chums at the bar, four women who we didn’t know having a nice time chatting, laughing, reminiscing. There were others in the other bars but we got our drinks and sat down to catch up with our evenings – me having a phone call to a cousin, him at his new singing group.
Drifting through from the end bar were the sounds of the juke box, and I realised I was listening to Jefferson Airplane… an all-time favourite…
