It was my turn to choose the topic for one of my writing groups and casting around for something I came across a poem by Robert Frost which I didn’t previously know called ‘Acquainted with the night’, which was such a splendid title, and also a splendid poem, of course. I suggested it to the group and look forward to reading how they were inspired. I, unusually, used t to write my own poem, not in the same league as Frost, obviously, and this is only the first rough draft, but here it is:
I am acquainted with the night
Acquainted with the night, I am acquainted with the night
I wade through pools of darkness and of light
skirting shadows and dark ways
a silent as the cunning soul
who stalks and steps on silent toes
seeking prey with bad intent
Acquainted with the light, I am acquainted with the light
I step through glades of shadow and of night
seeking sunshine and lit ways
still silent and a cunning soul
I stride and march with steadfast tread
still seeking prey with hungry bent
Acquainted with the light, I am acquainted with the night
I hunt with lust in daytime and at dusk
I care not if it’s dark or light
I’m cunning and a secret ghoul
I’m blatant or secret in my hunt
seeking prey with bad intent
still seeking prey with hungry bent
seeking prey with bad intent
Thanks for sharing Frost’s poem we didn’t know.
Moody picture, it really fits the poem.
All the best

I had to look the poem up and it is quite lovely! Yours is lovely too! I like the “pools of darkness” and especially “glades of shadow.”
