100/100 Challenge 3: meeting my grandma

April 30th, would have been Captain Tom Moore’s one hundred and first birthday, and in recognition of that, a new challenge has been announced that ordinary folk should try to complete a hundred somethings to raise more funds for The Captain Tom Foundation. My own challenge is to write over a hundred days, a 100 word blog each day.

Day 3:

Writing about my grandmother with fond, loving memories, I think of her as kind, gentle, but really that’s all. She was small, smiley, but I remember her only as a vague, bowed shape coming down the hall of their house opposite what was the Old English Gentleman in Harston. I’ve imposed her face from photos onto my memories, and now I see her monochrome smile. I’ve stories from my mum, but I’m researching her life, exploring and telling her story through what I deduce and now I feel great love towards her, which as a small child I couldn’t express.
